Pigeons nesting under an array cause droppings, blocked airflow and hot spots. Daniel fits discreet mesh so they can't get back in.

About Daniels Solar Cleaning
Daniels Solar Cleaning exists for one job: getting Melbourne rooftops back to the output their owners paid for. Daniel does every clean himself — no subcontractors, no franchise territory, no middlemen. The same person quotes your job, does the work, and answers the phone afterwards.
When you book, Daniel turns up. Not a subcontractor, not a trainee sent out with a bucket. The same operator, every time.
Deionised water with zero dissolved solids, soft bristles, no detergents and no pressure washing — exactly what panel makers specify in their maintenance terms.
If your panels were already clean and there's nothing meaningful to gain, Daniel tells you that instead of taking your money. Free condition inspection either way.
Public liability cover and proper roof anchoring on every job. Certificate of currency emailed before your booking if you or your body corporate want it on file.
A one-hour arrival window, a text when he's on the way, and a call if weather moves your slot. Most home jobs are finished inside 90 minutes.
Quoted per panel and confirmed in writing before the booking. No call-out fees, no upsells, and no charge at all if the array can't be reached safely.
60-second check
Drag the sliders to match your system. The maths uses Melbourne's long-run average sunshine and a conservative value for the power you'd otherwise be making.
Not sure of your system size? It's on your inverter, on the original invoice, or count the panels and multiply by 0.44kW. Most Melbourne homes installed since 2019 sit between 6.6kW and 10kW.
$0
That's about 0 kWh of free electricity going nowhere, at an estimated 0% soiling loss.
Indicative only. Based on ~3.6 peak sun hours a day for Melbourne and a blended value of $0.28/kWh across self-consumption and feed-in. Real soiling varies with roof pitch, surroundings and time since the last clean. Daniel will give you a straight answer on the day about how much your panels had on them.
See the difference
That film isn't loose dust. It's bonded pollen, traffic soot and mineral residue — and rain doesn't shift it.

Common questions
Still unsure? Call and ask — no sales pitch, no obligation.
Solar panel cleaning starts at $140 for up to 6 panels and $170 for 14 panels, inclusive of GST. Extra panels beyond 14 are $5 each, so 18 panels is $190, 22 panels is $210 and 28 panels is $240. The price is the same for single and double storey homes, and every clean includes a free solar panel condition inspection.
Once every 12 months suits most Melbourne homes. Book every six months if you are near the bay, under gum trees, close to a main road or an active building site, or on a rural or industrial block. Panels with a shallow pitch under 10 degrees hold more grime and also benefit from twice-yearly cleaning.
Yes, when panels are genuinely soiled. Independent soiling research reports losses in the range of roughly 5 to 25 percent depending on dust, pollen, salt and bird droppings. Droppings and lichen are the worst because they block cells completely rather than just dimming them. Daniel will tell you honestly whether your panels are dirty enough to be worth doing.
No. Most manufacturers require periodic cleaning as a condition of warranty and specify soft brushes with clean water and no harsh chemicals. That is exactly the method used here: deionised pure water, soft bristle brushes, and no detergents, abrasives or high-pressure washing that could damage seals or the anti-reflective coating.
A single dropping across a cell can shade a whole panel string and create a hot spot, which is localised heat that shortens panel life. Pigeons nesting under an array also bring in twigs and droppings that hold moisture against the roof. Daniel cleans the droppings off the panels and can quote mesh bird proofing to stop the birds getting back under there.
Rain rinses off loose dust but leaves a bonded film of pollen, traffic soot and mineral residue, and it does nothing for bird droppings or lichen. Melbourne rain also dries with dissolved minerals that leave a haze on the glass. Rain helps, but it is not a substitute for a proper clean.
Yes, and it costs exactly the same as a single-storey home - there is no double-storey surcharge. Daniel is trained and equipped for working at heights, with harnesses and anchor points on every job. Steep pitches or anything above two storeys may need scaffolding or an elevated work platform, and you will be told upfront if that changes the price.
Not usually. Daniel needs side access to the roof line and an outdoor tap, though he carries his own water tank if needed. Most customers are at work during the clean and get a text on arrival plus a photo report when the job is done. If a problem is spotted on the roof, you get photos before anything else happens.
Yes. Property managers and owners corporations get before and after photos, same-day email records and simple invoicing suitable for passing on to owners. Commercial arrays, schools and warehouse rooftops are quoted per site after Daniel confirms roof access and safety requirements.
Yes. Daniels Solar Cleaning carries public liability insurance and follows height safety procedures on every job. A certificate of currency is available on request before your booking and can be emailed to you, your body corporate or your property manager.
