DanielOwner & operator

Life in The Basin means tall gums, bush gardens and homes stepped into the lower slopes of the Dandenong Ranges. Many are 1970s and 1980s brick or timber houses, often with later extensions and solar added along the way. Daniel does each clean himself, walking the block first to plan his ladder position before he ever sets foot on the roof.

  • Harness and height safety on every job
  • Pure-water brush — no detergents or pressure washing
  • Fixed price agreed before he starts

Firm price upfront

Quoted and confirmed by text before the booking. No add-ons and no surprise charges on the day.

Daniel does it himself

You booked Daniels Solar Cleaning, you get Daniel. No subcontractors and no trainees, ever.

Careful on your roof

On The Basin's sloping blocks, Daniel sets ladders on firm footing and works tiled or Colorbond roofs clipped into full height-safety gear.

Honest debrief

He tells you what he found — even when that means your panels didn't need doing yet.

Foothills living

Solar owners in The Basin and their hillside homes

Houses in The Basin sit on the edge of the ranges, and that shapes everything from ladder placement to where panels were installed.

Blocks on a slope

Plenty of homes here sit above or below the street, reached by steep drives or steps. Daniel carries his gear in by hand and finds level ground for the ladder before starting.

Panels among the gums

Tall trees are part of the appeal of The Basin. Installers often squeezed panels onto whichever roof face gets clear sun, and branches may overhang parts of the array.

Extended older homes

Many original houses have gained rear extensions or second levels over the years. That can leave panels split between old tiles and newer sheet roofing, each needing its own footing.

Typical in 3154: A roof where gum leaves and twigs collect along the lower edge of the panels, with lichen slowly spreading across the frames on the side that sees less sun.

See the difference

Dirt you can't see is costing you power

That film isn't loose dust. It's bonded pollen, traffic soot and mineral residue — and rain doesn't shift it.

  • Deionised pure water dries without spotting
  • Soft brush only — safe on seals and coatings
  • Droppings lifted off, not smeared around
  • Before and after photos, same day

Best times to book

When to clean solar panels in The Basin

For panels in 3154, these windows through the year suit a clean best.

Summer ready

Nov–Dec

Clearing leaf litter and winter grime before the hottest months gives your panels clean glass for the brightest, longest days of the year.

Spring clear-out

Sep–Oct

Gardens burst into flower and pollen dusts every surface. A spring clean lifts it away along with anything the wet months left behind.

Autumn leaf season

Mar–May

After summer, dried dust and droppings sit on the glass while leaves start dropping. Autumn is a good time to reset and check for any new shading.

After tree work

Anytime

If an arborist has just pruned or removed trees near the house, a clean afterwards clears the sawdust and leaf fragments that settled on the panels.

The Basin questions

Solar panel cleaning The Basin — FAQs

How much does solar panel cleaning cost in The Basin?

Pricing includes GST: $140 covers up to 6 panels, $150 covers 12 and $170 covers 14. Each panel above 14 adds $5, so a 16 panel system costs $180. Double-storey homes in The Basin pay no extra, and you get a free condition inspection with the clean.

Trees overhang my panels in The Basin. Is that a problem?

Daniel can still clean the panels, and during the free condition inspection he will photograph any branches casting shade across the array. That gives you a clear record to show an arborist if you decide some pruning is worthwhile.

My home in The Basin sits on a steep block. Can Daniel get up safely?

In most cases, yes. He assesses the slope, sets his ladder on stable ground and uses a harness and height-safety gear on the roof. If there is no safe way to reach the array, you won't be charged.

Can you remove lichen from solar panel frames?

Lichen on the glass and frames is part of normal buildup, and Daniel works it off gently with soft brushes and deionised water. He never uses harsh chemicals or pressure washers, which could damage seals.

Do I need to be home when Daniel visits The Basin?

Not if he can reach the side or back of the house through a gate. Plenty of customers are at work during the clean and simply check the before and after photos emailed that afternoon.

How often should panels be cleaned under lots of trees?

Homes with trees nearby often benefit from a clean twice a year, because leaf litter and bird droppings build up faster on those roofs. Without trees overhead, once a year usually keeps things in good shape.

Birds keep sheltering around my panels. What can be done?

Daniel offers mesh bird proofing, which is fitted around the edges of the array to keep birds out from behind the panels. He quotes it separately once he has seen your roof.

Can a few of us in The Basin book together?

Yes, and it is worth doing. When neighbours book on the same visit, each household gets a better rate. Send Daniel the addresses and approximate panel counts and he will organise a day that works.
